I am an emotional therapist with over 18 years experience, including working both in the corporate and public sectors. For the past few years I have worked within my own private practice. As a member of BACP, and an accredited member of NCPS, I offer a humanistic approach to therapy, and work with both couples and individuals. My aim is to offer non judgemental empathic support in a safe environment. Therapy can at times feel daunting but there is no right or wrong way to be. All I ask is that you bring yourself and together we will find a way through.
Since turning to counselling I have helped clients work through a wide range of issues including stress, anxiety, depression, bereavement, attachment and loss difficulties, PTSD, physical, sexual and psychological abuse, long term illness, body dysmorphia and low confidence/esteem. The list is endless as we are all unique and bring our own story to the counselling room. Our mental health can present in many forms and at times prevent us from being able to enjoy life fully. Early life experiences can form our behaviour and understanding of the world as we see it and can at times become entangled with fear and instability. Our emotions can be triggered when we least expect them to be. Emotional therapy can help to untangle these feelings and increase our awareness to make more sense of them. As with a spiders web our emotions are entwined within our conscious and subconscious mind. Once we can understand more fully why we may think and feel as we do we can increase awareness as to why we behave in a certain way. Most of our learning comes as a young child through norms of growing up, our role models at the time and family dynamics. As an adult we can challenge these early learnings and where needed allow ourselves to let go and reform our thinking and behaviour.
I am a strong listener with the ability to help unravel personal issues at your own pace and ensure that your safety is always paramount. I offer both short focused and longer term therapy. I offer face to face sessions at A Yellow Boat, 29 White Post Lane, Hackney Wick, E9 5EN. I also offer online sessions, telephone sessions and walk and talk therapy.
Yellow Boat was born from a vision I had whilst in Venice. The story is mine but the symbol of the Yellow Boat I feel I wanted to share and can symbolize anyone’s story who is brave enough to partake in therapy, whether it is personal or couple based. We don’t always know where the boat will sail and what waters will need to be covered but we can have faith that the end destination will be worth the journey to have a greater insight to self and understand where we need to be.
After collaborating with A Balanced Life for the last few years, I decided this year to join forces so together we can continue to make therapy more accessible, and help build a community that offers many holistic services within our practice. I am excited to be part of the Hackney Wick community and the beautiful diversity it brings. I welcome you to join us.
